AquaFlow LXC: water uses the credit, air does not.
Ultrasonic prepaid water meters built for networks where supply is intermittent. The meter recognises air and dry-pipe conditions instead of billing every restart as consumption, and reports over NB-IoT without neighbourhood concentrators.
Delivered, installed and commissioned
Equipment for the plant, the network and the venue
Sourced from established manufacturers, checked against your specification and delivered to site. Add items to an enquiry and we'll come back with a quotation.
Engineering, construction, supply and procurement
Supply and services of instrumentation and control systems, electrical field installations, and structural and industrial fabrication across civil, mechanical, electrical and construction management work.

Built for the systems Zimbabwe runs on.
Power stations, waterworks, fuel pipelines, mines, rail and city councils depend on equipment that cannot fail. That is the work we do.
Trusted by utilities, councils and industry
Clients and manufacturers, let's work together.
Utilities and industry get one accountable supplier. Manufacturers get a technically capable local partner for tenders, delivery and support.
Tell us what you need.
Send a requirement or a tender reference and we'll come back with a compliant offer.
Pay for water.
Not air.
When an empty pipeline refills, compressed air can arrive before a steady column of water. AquaFlow LXC is designed to recognise air-flow and dry-pipe conditions so prepaid credit follows water delivered.
- UltrasonicNo moving measuring parts
- STSOpen vending interoperability
- Class DHigh-accuracy measurement
- IP68Protected meter body
When supply returns, air can arrive first.
Across Zimbabwe—and anywhere water supply is intermittent—an empty main may carry compressed air and an unstable air-water mixture before normal flow settles. This is a wider network challenge, not a Harare-only problem; the public discussion in Harare provides a documented local case study.
- 01The line empties
Supply is interrupted and sections of pipe run dry.
- 02Pressure returns
Compressed air moves ahead of stable water flow.
- 03Apparent use can register
Some mechanical measuring systems may respond to the moving air.
- 04AquaFlow distinguishes the condition
Air-flow and dry-pipe recognition protect the integrity of prepaid measurement.
See what the meter sees.
Switch between the two pipeline conditions.
AIR / DRY-PIPE CONDITION
Air detected.
No water volume counted.
The meter identifies the abnormal pipeline condition rather than treating the restart as ordinary water consumption.
In plain language: air passes; the resident's credit stays protected.
Water should use your credit. Air should not.
Across intermittent-supply networks, an empty pipe may refill with compressed air before stable water flow. AquaFlow LXC recognises air-flow and dry-pipe conditions so credit follows verified water delivered.

Everything in one sealed unit
Measurement, control, communications and the shut-off valve are integrated in a Class D, UV-stabilised engineering plastic body.

- LCDBacklit dot-matrix display that switches off when idle to save battery.
- Optical portIEC 1107 port for technical interrogation and management.
- Query interface (TOUCH)Tap to show total to date, remaining credit and monthly volume without the CIU.
- Serial numberUnique 11-digit STS meter number (DRN). Inzalo's STS manufacturer code is 41.
- Battery compartmentMain and measurement batteries, replaceable in the field.
- Communications module compartmentPlug-in communications module, replaceable in the field.
- Security coverWire-sealed cover over the battery and module compartments.
- Front coverProtects the display, optical port and TOUCH interface.
No wheel to turn. Sound does the measuring.
AquaFlow LXC uses dual-path transit-time ultrasonic sensing. It compares sound travelling with and against the flow, calculates delivered water volume, and recognises air-flow and dry-pipe conditions—with no moving measuring parts and no wheel for air to spin.

More than a meter reading
Keep the vending platform.
Upgrade the meter.
AquaFlow LXC is STS certified. It is designed to work with any correctly configured STS-compliant vending platform, allowing a utility to integrate the meter with its existing vending environment instead of creating a proprietary vending island.
Continue using the recognised secure token-based prepaid journey.
STS interoperability supports compliant components from different suppliers.
Final integration remains subject to the utility's vending configuration, supply-group and key management, technical testing and implementation approval.
How STS interoperability works ↗
AquaFlow LXCMeter and customer interface unitOne open standard. A familiar vending ecosystem, connected to a smarter water meter.
How customers load credit
The meter is paired with an in-home customer interface unit (CIU). Customers enter standard 20-digit STS tokens, and the meter loads the credit in cubic metres.
Field-ready. Public-space protected.
The IP68 meter can operate exposed. Where vandalism, tampering or local streetscape requirements demand more protection, the same meter can be supplied in a purpose-built or locally specified enclosure.
IP68Designed to work exposed
A sealed, UV-stabilised meter body for suitable external locations and protected chambers.

Visible, accessible and protected
Raises the meter above difficult ground conditions while keeping authorised maintenance practical.

Protected where space is tight
A compact option for boundary walls, service yards and locations where ground boxes are unsuitable.

Designed for the authority and the site
Shape, colour, branding, access and protection can be adapted to local standards and field conditions.

No concentrators. No neighbourhood network to maintain.
AquaFlow LXC supports replaceable communication modules for NB-IoT, LoRa, LoRaWAN and Sigfox, allowing each local authority to select the network that fits its coverage, infrastructure and operating model. For the current Zimbabwe proposal, Lonsburry is prioritising NB-IoT.
Use the cellular network already in the field.
NB-IoT is a low-power cellular technology designed for connected devices that exchange small amounts of data. Each enabled meter communicates through a participating mobile operator's existing network and carries readings, status and alarms towards the utility's approved head-end system. Because the route does not rely on utility-installed neighbourhood data concentrators, the authority avoids having to install, power, secure and maintain a separate field communications layer. That can lower infrastructure cost and make expansion from a pilot to a wider meter estate simpler.
- AquaFlow LXC meterSends readings, status and alarms
- Participating mobile operatorExisting NB-IoT cellular infrastructure
- HES platformMonitor, report, investigate and act
Meter to mobile network to HES—without a field data concentrator between them.
Removes a separate neighbourhood gateway layer from the proposed communications path.
Can reduce equipment, power, site-security and maintenance costs associated with concentrator networks.
Low-power cellular communication suits periodic meter readings, status updates and alarms.
New enabled meters join the operator network rather than waiting for a new local collection point.
One meter platform. Four communication choices.
The communication module is selected to suit the local authority's coverage, network strategy and approved systems. NB-IoT is the preferred route for the current proposal; the other supported configurations remain available where they are the better local fit.
Final selection and service design remain subject to local coverage, the authority's architecture, commercial agreement, regulatory requirements, active connectivity and approved HES integration.
Every meter in the field. One operational picture.
The HES turns thousands of connected meters into a manageable utility network. Teams can see which meters are active, find exceptions, review consumption history, investigate events and produce operational reports from the office.

Know what is happening before a complaint reaches the counter.
In the proposed NB-IoT deployment, the participating mobile network supplies the communication path. The HES organises incoming information into useful views for engineering, revenue, customer service and management teams.

Marketing promise. Documented capability.
Manufacturer documentation expressly lists air-flow detection, dry-pipe indication and ultrasonic measurement with no moving mechanical parts. Each meter is tested and verified in Inzalo Utility Systems' SANAS-accredited verification laboratory.
Compliance with these stringent SAn and International standards, demonstrates the world-class quality, engineering and reliability of the AquaFlow LXC. Developed in a country that pioneered prepaid water metering, it offers Zimbabwean Water Utilities and their clients, the confidence of adopting technology that meets the industry’s most demanding benchmarks.
